What to expect
Naturally, nature plays out all its charms in the Salzkammergut. The wide mats of the Alpine foothills, about 76 lakes, lovely alpine ridges, idyllic villages with a colorful variety of flowers and the striking limestone massifs of Dachstein, Totem Mountains, Höllengebirge are full of contrasts and inspirations.
From Salzburg to Fuschlsee
Drive into the lake region to clear, turquoise and blue shining lakes, enjoy the Salzbuger landscape until our first stop. Schloss Fuschl offers a quiet, relaxed view over the whole Fuschlsee. The scent of the Schlossfischerei tempts you to sample smoked char or Rainanke.
St. Gilgen am Wolfgangsee
After this short stop the journey continues to St. Gilgen. This small village is steeped in history and today lives from tourism. Mozarthaus, museum of local history, gondolas, coffee houses, shops, Christkindlmarkt and the navigation are only a few characteristics.For beautiful views across the lake, the boat trip from St. Gilgen over the Wolfgangsee. In just 40 minutes you end up in St. Wolfgang, another historical place of the Salzkammergut.

Take the walk to the center of the village. Along the way you will discover freshly baked gingerbread, lambskin goods for the cold winter days and salt from the Salzkammergut. The special feature here is the famous pilgrim church St. Wolfgang. Inside you will discover the well-preserved Flügelaltar by Michael Pacher and the double altar by Thomas Schwanthaler, just a few of the peculiarities of the church. And you will also find many stories and legends about the Bishop Wolfgang in the form of blackboards.
If time allows, treat yourself to a good lunch at the Weisses Rössl on Lake Wolfgang or in a coffee house.
St. Wolfgang to Mondsee 
The journey continues along Lake Wolfgang to Mondsee. Almost as big as the Wolfgangsee and just as beautiful is the Mondsee in a wide basin right on the steep, elongated Drachenwand. In the village of Mondsee, you can visit the great Basilica of St. Michael. Many visitors know them from films, but it is also suitable for weddings. No wonder, this centuries-old church lets everyone marvel at the beauty of the artworks.

Pause, switch off and recharge your batteries with new energy from the nature of the Salzkammergut as you learn more about the traditional costume, the living craftsmanship of this region and the historical facts. Soon the tour ends again in Salzburg, hopefully with beautiful impressions of the Salzkammergut.
